The PPF can be roughly divided into three main structures: coating, base film and adhesive layer, each of which has a different role. The role of the adhesive layer is to allow the PPF and the car paint surface to fit closely and play a protective role, Therefore, the main reason for glue retention on the car paint surface is closely related to the glue layer of the car PPF
Possibility of adhesive retention 1: Improperly peeled film
If there is slightly glue left in the local or corner of the paint when removing the PPF,,it is basically due to the installers remove the PPF in a wrong way or wrong angle that cause the friction between the car paint and the PPF Glue layer, it is not relevant to the PPF quality itself,In this case there is no need to worry
For minor localised glue retention, simply spray the adhesive remover onto a towel and wipe it off..
Here is a tip for installers: when removing the film, ensure that the angle between the film and the paint surface is <45°. If necessary, pour some hot water to help soften the adhesive layer, so that the removing will be smoother and less likely to leave adhesive
Possibility 2: Improper installation
If the wrong solvent is used when applying the film, this can lead to a chemical reaction between the solvent and the glue, which can also lead to local or global glue retention. Or if the paint is not cleaned before applying the film and residues such as resin or air conditioning water react chemically with the glue, this can also result in glue retention.

If the glue used by the manufacturer is a market-proven brand and model, but there is still a large area of retained glue, consider the cause to be an improper glue ratio in the coating plant.
When the overall adhesion between glue and substrate is less than the adhesion between glue and lacquer, this can also result in large areas of glue retention.
How to deal with large areas of glue
It has been found that: pouring hot water in the area to soften the residual glue, then spraying solar film remover or tar cleaner, and applying flour and wearing gloves to carefully and slowly rub it out is a more secure way to remove it, when the residual glue is removed and then polished to restore the treatment. At present, there are also special paint mask remover on the market, but according to the actual operation found that the formulation of mild remover is less effective, the effect of obvious corrosive and too strong, may cause damage to the original car paint surface.
